A Beautiful Day at Buccanos, Cozumel

Some collaborations are simply beautiful. Others stay with you because of the people, the energy, and everything you learn along the way. This one was definitely one of those.

We recently had the pleasure of bringing together an incredible team for a creative collaboration at Buccanos in Cozumel, and we’re so happy to finally share more of what happened behind the scenes.

For us at VO evolution, these collaborations are about much more than creating pretty images. They’re an opportunity to experiment, work with talented people we might not otherwise meet, discover new ideas, and keep pushing ourselves creatively. Every shoot teaches us something, sometimes about hair and makeup, sometimes about styling and photography, and often simply about working as a team.

And that’s exactly what we love about this industry: there is always something new to learn.

🌴 Cozumel - A Setting We Won’t Forget

Choosing Cozumel for this collaboration was a big part of what made the day so special.

The island has such a unique atmosphere. The Caribbean light, the ocean, the greenery, and that relaxed feeling you get the moment you arrive all created the perfect environment for this shoot.

And then there was Buccanos.

The location gave us so many different possibilities, from beautiful wide shots to close-ups of the smallest details. It was the kind of place where everything already feels beautiful before you even start adding anything to it.

We wanted the final images to feel elegant but not overly staged, like a beautiful wedding day that naturally came together in an incredible Caribbean setting.

💇‍♀️ VO evolution - Creating the Beauty Look

For VO evolution, this was also a chance to showcase the creativity and versatility of our artists.

Our founder and creative director, Natacha, was on set preparing our model, Margot, alongside Alain, our makeup artist. Watching them work together was one of our favorite parts of the day.

There was a lot happening behind the scenes: trying different ideas, adjusting details, checking the hair from every angle, making sure the makeup worked with the light, and, of course, laughing along the way.

Those backstage moments are a huge part of what we love about our work. You see the finished photo and everything looks effortless, but there is always a team behind it making dozens of little decisions.

And honestly, that’s where a lot of the magic happens.

🎂 @cecipastel - A Beautiful Sweet Touch

We have to talk about the cake.

The beautiful creation by @cecipastel was one of those details that deserved its own close-up. It fit so beautifully into the overall styling and added that extra touch that makes a celebration feel complete.

One of the things we loved about this collaboration was being able to photograph all those little details separately because when you put them all together, you really see how much work goes into creating the atmosphere of a wedding.

🌸 @jersonfloralstudio - Bringing the Flowers to Life

The florals and event design by @jersonfloralstudio played such an important role in the overall look.

The flowers brought color, texture, and softness to the setting while still feeling completely at home in the surroundings of Cozumel.

We loved seeing how everything came together around the table and how the flowers changed the feeling of the space. And, of course, they looked amazing in the close-up shots.

Thank you for all the thought and creativity that went into the floral design. It really made a difference. 🌸

🪑 @alquiladoralaluna - The Details That Complete the Setting

Furniture might not be the first thing you notice in a wedding photo, but it can completely change the way a space feels.

The pieces from @alquiladoralaluna helped create the right balance between elegant and relaxed, which was exactly what we wanted for this shoot.

From the table setup to the smaller styling details, everything worked together beautifully with the flowers, cake, dress, and location.

💍 @juun.events - Making It All Come Together

A collaboration with this many moving parts needs someone keeping an eye on the big picture.

A huge thank you to @juun.events for the planning and coordination and for helping make sure all the different pieces came together.

From the outside, a beautiful wedding setup can look completely effortless. But we know how much organization happens behind the scenes to make that possible.

Having the right people around you makes all the difference.

👗 @latrupetulum - The Bridal Look

The dress from @latrupetulum was the perfect addition to the overall aesthetic.

It worked beautifully with the hair and makeup, the florals, and the natural surroundings of Cozumel. Everything felt cohesive without looking too perfect or overly styled - exactly the kind of destination wedding feeling we wanted to capture.

👩🏻 @margotelne - Our Model

Of course, none of this would have come together without our model, @margotelne.

Margot brought the right energy to every part of the shoot, from the beauty close-ups to the more relaxed backstage moments and the wider images around the location.

She gave us the opportunity to really showcase the work of our artists and to capture the details from so many different perspectives.

🛠️ Saul - The Help Behind the Scenes

And then there are the people who make everything easier without necessarily appearing in the final photos.

A special thank you to Saul, who helped us throughout the preparation and was there to make sure everything kept moving.

From setup to those little last-minute things that always seem to come up on a production day, having someone like Saul around makes such a difference.

It was a very good-natured, collaborative day, and that energy really came from everyone working together.

📸 The Photographers - Turning Moments Into Memories

And, of course, we couldn’t finish without thanking the photographers who captured it all.

We especially love the way they documented not only the final result but also the little details: the cake, the flowers, the table, the furniture, the beauty look, and the moments happening in between.

These are the images that allow us to remember the collaboration as a whole, not just what it looked like at the end, but the work and creativity that went into getting there.

✨ Why We Love Collaborations Like This

For us, collaborations are a way of getting out of our usual routine.

We get to meet new creatives, work in new locations, try different beauty looks, see how other professionals approach their work, and sometimes discover ideas we wouldn’t have thought of on our own.

And we learn something every single time.

Maybe it’s a new technique. Maybe it’s a different way of styling a look. Maybe it’s simply learning how another creative team works and realizing that there are a hundred different ways to get to the same beautiful result.

That’s what keeps this job exciting for us.

We don’t want to create the same thing over and over again. We want to keep experimenting, keep meeting talented people, and keep finding new ways to make beautiful work.

This collaboration in Cozumel was a perfect example of that.
